{"id":1460,"date":"2025-05-31T19:08:12","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T19:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/?p=1460"},"modified":"2025-06-13T19:12:39","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T19:12:39","slug":"not-mad-at-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/es\/not-mad-at-all\/","title":{"rendered":"not mad at all"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s Beermad number ten, and more populated than the last time, from the very beginning.\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t that much of a line, not like years ago, but last year I was the only one at the gate until practically opening time.\u00a0 There were about 20 people hanging out patiently this year, even as opening time came and went and the gate remained shut.\u00a0 They got us in pretty quickly once things were worked out inside, whatever it was that had to be done; Cantiman<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It has a good look, dark brown, fluffy beige-ish head, and with kind of an oaty stout aroma.\u00a0 Maybe a little malt-heavy, but that&#8217;s not bad for a dark beer.\u00a0 It hits a little malty on the tongue, and gives a heavy first impression, but it really is pretty slick drinking.\u00a0 It takes a bit for some bitterness to make an appearance, but eventually it does, from the back of the tongue, interestingly.\u00a0 As a relatively light stout, it&#8217;s a good beginning for me.\u00a0 Other times I dive in a little too fast, but this feels&#8230;sensible.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1468\" style=\"width:573px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250582-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I do not remember that motto for Leiner<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time for something different, and I noticed quite a few different things on the signs.\u00a0 As usual, lots of IPAs, but also some fruity sours with less common fruit.\u00a0 I toss some plans around in my head as I head for another new name, Tensina.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a Little Cherry Sour waiting for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1466\" style=\"width:499px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250584-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Incredible color, Kool-Aid worthy, bubbly but not much head, and not much aroma either.\u00a0 It does have a little bit of a cherry yogurt smell, maybe due to the lactose that they told me was in there.\u00a0 Although it looks fizzy, it&#8217;s very smooth feeling, not a single tickle on the tongue.\u00a0 The sour cherry flavor\u00a0<em>is<\/em>\u00a0there, but it&#8217;s hardly overpowering.\u00a0 It has a very dry feel, in fact.\u00a0 It seems like Kool-Aid with less sugar than normal, and a little watered down too.\u00a0 Well, the color is right anyway.\u00a0 That&#8217;s not necessarily bad, we need to have some subtle things to tune our palates to once in a while, to keep us on our toes.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been awfully spoiled with strong flavors as of late.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1467\" style=\"width:571px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250583-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Is Iris the brewer?  Got distracted, didn&#8217;t ask<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now we get back to my preference, the dark beers.\u00a0 I saw Pohjala&#8217;s Chocolate Porter listed alongside some Lervig and others, and had to go back for that.\u00a0 I think I&#8217;ve probably had it either at Taproom or from the bottle, but there&#8217;s no harm in trying a new serving style and new environment.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250587-scaled-e1749841339999-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1463\" style=\"width:495px;height:auto\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>As expected, it looks splendid with it&#8217;s color and head.\u00a0 It smells a little coasty, but it is a Baltic porter, after all.\u00a0 A second whiff gives me a hint of licorice.\u00a0 Dark chocolate taste, crumbly, slightly savory, a real mouthful.\u00a0 Licorice is enhanced by the Sachertorte, which is quite dry.\u00a0 Again, it&#8217;s not a kick you in the face kind of beer, it&#8217;s very mild, but the flavors that are there come right out without shame.\u00a0 I start to pick up a little porter plumminess after a while, adding something sweet on top.\u00a0 The bottom of the Sachertorte has some fruity, jammy surprises awaiting, which end up adding some moisture, but overall it is the porter that is carrying the weight of softening things up here.\u00a0 Not a bad combination at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, one more tongue cleaning sour.\u00a0 There&#8217;s some mystery about the exact fruit in it, it might be cranberry, but probably raspberry.\u00a0 This is DAI Sour.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/letslearn.beer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/P5250588-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1462\" light aroma.\u00a0 It&#8217;s fuzzier than the cherry, but with more woodiness and confidence.\u00a0 It does have the essence of a cranberry drink with something sparkling added.\u00a0 A cranberry virgin cocktail, I guess.\u00a0 I am a little whistful for the days of tongue wresting brews that fight all the way down, but Anne Bonny here is no doubt a thirst quencher.\u00a0 Not a flavor bomb in any way, but definitely palatable, and not as dry as Little Cherry.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very much a drink, not a sensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And with that, my Beermad concludes.\u00a0 See
